Vinyl versus Electronically Altered by: Jeffrey Schrembs
Technology in music has allowed individuals, groups, etc. who could NOT carry a tune using a bucket. These "lip sync alter egos" very rarely sing LIVE (i.e. Concerts, TV, etc.). Their music is altered time and again so that it "sounds good" but without the digital enhancements their actual voices would sound like a cross between Jim Nabors and Minnie Pearl and Lassie. As an example Elvis NEVER let his VOICE be tampered with. Elvis averaged over 120 shows each year from 1970 through 1977 and he MOVED quite a bit and still his voice was AMAZING. Elvis did not need "backup singers" or "flashy smoke or powertronics". Elvis used THREE lights during his shows and he, and his group (i.e. including backup Gospel singers,Charlie Hodge, the Orchestra, female singers, etc.) provided REAL ENTERTAINMENT. I have the luxury of having never 45, 78, 33, etc. that Elvis recorded and I have them on 8track, tape, and now CD. I prefer my sony system with a high quality turntable with a diamond head needle for it replays the music as it was meant to be heard. Technology has it's place and it's benefits but if the cost of Technology is for our children, and theirs, to be brainwashed by "people" jumping around and never singing a live word/song. God gave all of us gifts and those who are organically talented in singing/performing should pursue the music field so that the "lip syncs" are booted with the instructions to learn to sing - take lessons if necessary - and use the tools God gave you to sing naturally. Nuff said. Jeff Schrembs
