The 5 saddest events in life of Elvis Presley (Jeff Schrembs 2011)

TOP FIVE SADDEST EVENTS IN ELVIS PRESLEYS" LIFE (by Jeff Schrembs, Elvis Presley Historian 2011 All Rights Reserved)

# 1 - Elvis' Mother was EVERYTHING to Elvis from the time he was born until the time he graduated High School ongoing to when Elvis signing with RCA anfter Elvis had left SUN Records. Gladys became one parent during the time that Vernon Presley was incarcarated for forging a check that he had been given to pay for a pig. Vernon, upon receiving the check told the owner that the check was VERY LOW and the check was supposed to be for ten times the amount of the check. So, Vervon and his friend took a few moments and added an extra zero to the original amount of the check for that was "fair" and it was "agreed to". When the Bank examined the check it was clear that it had been altered and they called the Police who took Vernon to Jail. At the first heaing Vernon told the truth - admitted everything - and agreed to compensate the man - and would adhere to the Courts decision concerning punnishment which was JAIL TIME. During Vernons "jail stay" Gladys got closer and closer with Elvis and loved him so much. She doted on him, always made him his favorite foods based upon what ingrediants/food they had in the house that day and she always responded to everything Elvis did as "great". Gladys was also the only one who he trusted as Gladys had a special contact with others and she could tell if someone was a good person - had bad intentions - was a Christain, etc. There was no stronger bond between a Mother and her Child as it was with Gladys and Elvis.

On August 13, 1958 Elvis flew into Memphis to be with his Mother who was taken to the Hospital and was not doing too well. Elvis was able to go inside and when he knelt beside her bed and rubbed her face and told her "Momma its me....everything is going to be all right" "satnin (nickname he gave her as they had their own "unique" phrases/words/sentences) will be all better

Elvis stayed with Gladys, for 24 hours straight wearing his US Army Uniform, until he was so exhausted Vernon Presley told Elvis to go sleep at Graceland and if anything happened he would call Graceland. Elvis did not want to leave but the Doctor said it would be "fine" so Elvis left. Within a few hours Elvis received a phone call from Vernon telling him Gladys health had taken a turn for the worst. Shortly after Elvis' arrival to the Hospital his beloved Gladys Love Smith Presley died on August 14, 1958

Elvis mourned his Mother in each cell in his being and it was the hardest time for Elvis as he so loved his Mother and now...she was gone. Elvis had counted on her for so much honesty, support, advice, etc. and his heart was crushed.

# 2 - Elvis fell in love with Priscilla while they were in Germany (Elvis was in the ARMY stationed over there and Priscillas' step father was there and in the military as well. Priscilla only met Elvis a few weeks before Elvis was to be discharged but they made the most of the time together as Elvis was in love to Priscilla who was only 14 years old at the time but looked like she was 18.

Their loved continued via telephone after Elvis returned to America and there was constant phone calls, letters, gifts, etc. being sent to Priscilla in Germany consistently.

At one point Elvis was able to have Priscillsa Step Father and Mother allow Priscilla to come to Graceland to visit. Well, the visit meant a great deal to both of them and Priscilla did not want to leave but Elvis had given his word to her parents so she did.

Shortly thereafter Elvis had Vernon talk via telephone to Priscilla's parents who agreed to let Priscilla move to Graceland providing she went to a good school, made good grades, and lived with Vernon and his wife Dee which was on land owned by Graceland.

After 5-6 years Elvis preposed to Priscilla and they got married May 1 1967. Nine months to the day (February 1 1967) Lisa Marie Presley was born...Elvis' beautiful daughter. The year she was born (i.i 1967) was the happiest many had ever seen Elvis and it carried through until early 1972.

In 1972 Priscilla told Elvis she wasn't happy and she was leaving him. Elvis was DEVESTATED that his wife, who he loved unconditionally, was going to divorce him and take away his little angel...Lisa Marie.

In October of 1973 their divorce was final. The photographs of Elvis holding hands with Priscilla on that day, leaving the Courthouse, is a sharp contrast to all of the depression - sleepless nights, anger, fear, sadness, and enduring a broken heart and crying all the time. Elvis always loved Priscilla and they had spoke, year after year since 1973 about the possibility of them getting back together as man and wife. They had the same conversation in August of 1977 but sadly this never happened because (sadly) Elvis died on August 16, 1977.

# 3 - Elvis co-starred with Judy Tyler on the hit movie Jailhouse Rock. Elvis Loved Judy and their onscreen chemistry was real and Elvis enjoyed the fact that Judy was "all class". This movie would be her BIG SHOT in the movie industry and after the film "rapped" everyone gave Judy and Elvis much applause knowing the film was very very good.

A few months before the movie was to be released Elvis received a phone call that Judy had died in an automobile accident. Elvis was devestated.

# 4 - Barbara Striesand met with Elvis and informed him that she was going to star in a film that Elvis would be perfect for. Elvis' movies up until he left for the ARMY were all hits and Elvis liked that his acting was respected. However, in the 1960s, with a few exceptions, his films were of low quality made in several months or weeks and Elvis' character type was repeated and cycled into the next movie...on and on. Hence, Elvis always wanted a chance at a REAL MOVIE to show off his full acting skills and this move, named A Star Is Born, would be perfect for Elvis.

Elvis was so excited he told everyone and he told Colonel Parker to get it done. Well, Colonel Parker, like he did Dolly Parton on her song "I Will Always Love You, tried to get a higher percentage of the gross profits for Elvis than for Barbara and she was insulted and said...NO.

# 5 - Elvis Aron Presley grew up poor in Mississippi as well as in Memphis. He also grew up knowing that he had a twin brother, who was delivered before Elvis, who (sadly) died at birth. The Doctor, after confirming the newborn was dead packed up his gear and filled otu the death certificate for Jesse Garon Presley. At that moment Gladys Love (Smith) Presley, Elvis' Mother, called out to the Doctor saying "there is another one and the Doctor sat his bag down and went to see what all of the fuss was about. During his quick examination he told Gladys ""yep, there is another one" and a few minutes later Elvis Aron Presley came out -screamed - was healthy - and looked a great deal like his still born twin Jesse Garron.

For the remainder of Elvis' life he believed that he was given the talents of his twin brother who died and often recalled to those he knew and could trust that Elvis "felt" his presence often and he talked to him. Elvis also wondered if his twin had lived if it would have been the twin that became the big rock star instead of Elvis. Elvis through about Jesse throughout his life which (sadly) ended on August 16, 1977
