Elvis Presley in his '68 Comeback Special

Elvis Presley's '68 Comeback Special is a 1968 United States television special starring Elvis Presley.

It was directed by Steve Binder and produced by Binder plus Bones Howe and Phil Spector.

Sponsored by the Singer Sewing Machine Company, it aired on December 3, 1968 with the title Elvis on the NBC television network.

Since the special was scheduled to be broadcast during the Christmas season, Elvis' manager, Colonel Tom Parker, wanted the show to be little more than Elvis singing Christmas carols.

Binder argued that the special needed to reestablish Elvis as a going musical concern after years of formula movies and moderately successful recordings.

As part of the program, four one hour shows - 2 sit down with band mates and 2 stand up singing to a re-recorded track - were taped at the NBC studios.

These sessions are known as the Burbank Sessions. The musicians were:

"My Message to Elvis": I would like to say that I love your music, visited Graceland this past Sept. 2007-very sad & happy all in one-wish we could have been friends. 4. Suspicious Minds-my dad played it when he and my mom were divorcing. 5. Which is your favourite SUIT that Elvis wore on stage? : All of them! 6. Who do you think Elvis loved most in his life, his greatest love? : I would think his mother-Gladys. He just worshipped the ground she walked on and vice versa. 7. Where were you and what were you doing when you heard that Elvis had died? : Well, I was 7 years old-the news had come on-then they announced he died. It didn't hit me until I saw my mom and sister crying and then they played Aloha from Hawaii on TV. 8. Why do you think Elvis still attracts new fans every year, even long after his death? : He was the first person to break through the barriers of rock n roll. Have you been to Graceland?...If so, would you like to share your experence or feelings on this site? : Yes, I was so excited when we rode through the gates and up the drive. I felt as though I was going to meet him in person, but started crying once I entered the house. It was so surreal to see where he lived. It was one of my biggest dreams come true. Elvis was a trend leader and constantly "transformed" himself in his career, like Madonna & music stars are famous for doing nowdays. HELLO Kelly Thank you for your comments on our survey. I agree Elvis was very handsome he had the whole package, looks, voice, personality along with his unbeatable talent. He was truly a GREAT showman. In the 70’s he was even more Gorgeous, his music in the 70’s is my favorite. Like you I also hope to make it to Graceland. Seeing the big white mansion on documentaries was ok for me when I was younger, but I would really love to go there to say thanks to the man I still adored. Elvis gave so much to the world, how nice it would be to say “thank you Elvis.”

5) Party Planner tips:

Groovy Ways to Party

Admit it. Giving a party is one occasion you definitely look forward to.

It is your time to show your prowess at being a good hostess. That is why you must do everything within your means, whether meager or plentiful, to give the best party ever to your friends.

Make your party a hit! Here are some ideas you could use:

? Make a list of all the people you want to invite. Send the invitations and have them confirm their attendance ahead of time. Expect more or less 70% of those people to come!

Visualize the setting. Determine where you will put the tables, the food, the music, etc. For example, if you plan to have a buffet, it would be better to properly strategize the location of the table for the food. It will be a poor decision to make your guests go to the kitchen to get their food. The furniture, too, should not get in the way.

? Plan to prepare more than enough food. It is better to have leftovers than leave your guests resorting to raiding your refrigerator when you run out of food.

? The kind of food you will serve will also depend on the theme of the party. If it is a cocktail party, there should be more drinks and finger foods would do fine. If it is a dinner party, you should serve the best recipes you have.

? It would be good also to have a selection of drinks for your guests. Provide both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to cater to all your guests. Hire a bartender.

? Set up decorations that are appropriate to the occasion and to your theme. These ornaments should set the mood of the event. Thus they should not be too distracting or too loud. Be tasteful in selecting the color, shapes and materials.

? Do not forget the music. It will be the life of your party. Plan on your audio system ahead of time. Choose also the proper songs. They should generally be gay and lively.

? Have a program if the occasion would allow. Determine how long the event would last and choose the right activities for the event. For example children’s parties should have games but cocktail parties should not!

? You should also consider your budget in every aspect. Make sure you do not go beyond it. Have a to-do list to keep track of what you need.

Just remember the saying, failing to plan is planning to fail. A well planned party will definitely be a great party!
